BLOOD TESTING
Curated by clinicians. Taken in clinic. Explained by a doctor.
A blood test result is a number on a page until someone who knows your history explains what it means for you.
That explanation is not an optional extra at Bliss. It is the reason the service exists.
Our panels are built by the consultants who use them - our obstetricians, gynaecologists, physicians and dietitians focusing around the points in life where something specific is worth knowing.
Planning a family. Pregnancy. The months after a birth.
The decade when energy, sleep and weight all start behaving differently.
Hormonal, metabolic and prostate health in men.
Persistent tiredness that nobody has properly investigated.
Your sample is taken here, at Bliss Clinic in Chelsea, by an experienced phlebotomist, and analysed by The Doctors Laboratory (TDL). Every panel includes a proper conversation with a doctor who goes through your results line by line and tells you what to do next.
And if something needs acting on, the person who can act on it is right here for you.
Our depth is in women's health. Our blood testing is for everyone. Several of these panels are not sex-specific at all, and our men's service is a full clinical offering. Partners come together. Families come together.
That is usually how family health actually works.
Built by the clinicians who have to explain them
Most panels sold online are assembled commercially, often by a marketing team picking a set of markers that hits a price point and looks impressive. Those who designed them will ever have to sit opposite you and account for a result.
Ours are put together by the consultants who then do exactly that.
Every marker has a documented reason to be there. Our clinical lead signs off each panel, and the rationale for every individual test is recorded: what it tells us, and what a result would require.
They are designed around a question that is specific to you on your life journey: "What is making me so tired?" "Is my body ready for a pregnancy?" "What has six months of broken sleep and breastfeeding actually depleted?" Each panel exists to answer something specific, which is why they are shorter and sharper than the 100-marker screens sold elsewhere.
Our panels are reviewed as the evidence moves. Guidance changes and we revisit the panels rather than leaving them as they were the day the website launched.
And they are explained by a doctor. Every time. Not a written report with a generic comment underneath. A consultation, with a clinician who has read your history, in which you can ask the question you actually came with.
Obstetricians. Gynaecologists. Physicians. Dietitians. The people who build the panel are the people who read it back to you. The people who help you on your life journey.

How it works
-
Our packages are organised by life stage and by question, not by biomarker count. If you are not sure which one fits, book a short call with our clinical team. We will guide you which panel is right - including, sometimes, that you do not need one at all.
-
Your sample is taken in clinic by an experienced phlebotomist, in a private warm setting, with time to sit down first. A proper venous draw. No postal kits, no finger-pricks, no collecting your own blood at the kitchen table and hoping it survives the post.
-
Your sample is couriered to TDL the same day.
TDL is UK's largest independent pathology provider, UKAS-accredited to ISO 15189:2022 and CQC-regulated.
-
Every panel includes a consultation with a Bliss doctor. We go beyond an automated report with a paragraph of generic comment.
Your familiar clinician, in person, in a room or on a video call, who knows your history and will answer your questions.
-
Obstetrics, gynaecology, fetal medicine, men's pelvic health, dietetics, physiotherapy and scar therapy all of that form our holistic care.
For example, a low ferritin, an underactive thyroid, a raised HbA1c or a low testosterone does not become a letter to and a six-week wait. It becomes part of an immediate treatment plan.
Because our aim is to know you and help on your journey.
Why not just buy a home kit?
"I could order one online"
You could, and for some things that is a perfectly reasonable choice. We would argue that a single vitamin D check three months after starting a supplement may not need a consultant.
But often home kits struggle to deliver where it matters.
Sample quality. Finger-prick collection produces small samples that can haemolyse in transit. Some markers such as full blood count, or when measuring several hormones are simply less reliable that way, and a repeat kit means further delay in your information and your potential treatment. At Bliss we take proper venous draws, couriered same-day to TDL.
Timing. FSH, LH and oestradiol only mean something on days 2–5 of a cycle. Testosterone should be drawn before 11am — a sample taken at four in the afternoon can look reassuring and mean very little. Ferritin is falsely raised by any inflammation, which is why we measure CRP alongside it. A panel that ignores all this produces numbers that look like answers and aren't.
Interpretation. "Within range" is not the same as "right for you." A ferritin of 18 is technically normal. But is not normal for someone who gave birth six weeks ago and cannot get up the stairs. Your doctor knows the context and the stage of your journey.
What happens next. The hardest part of a private blood test is usually the day after: you have a flagged result, a report and nobody to take it to. Everything we test, we can also treat… or advise that treatment is not required.
Practical detail
-
No. You can book any panel directly. But your results can be shared with your GP - with your consent.
Bliss will include a covering letter explaining our findings.
-
No. Blood testing is open to anyone, and many people come to us for a panel before anything else.
-
Yes. Bliss Men is a full clinical service, and several of our panels — Iron & Energy, Nutrition & Lifestyle, Hair Health, The Men's Baseline, Fatherhood Ready - are carefully designed for men.
-
Around 15 minutes for the blood draw itself. Our clinician will advise how long to reserve for your visit to the clinic.
-
Requirement to fast prior to the blood test depends on the panel and will be advised by our clinician prior to your appointment.
-
For some tests, very much — testosterone should be measured in the morning, and several hormone markers are cycle-dependent.
Each panel description states clearly, and our team will help you time your appointment when you book.
-
This is genuinely common. Please tell us when you book.
We will allow extra time for your appointment, use a smaller gauge where we can, and there is no hurry.
-
Regret we do not offer home visits at present.
Our Approach to Treatment
Evidence-Based, Person-Centred Care
We employ only clinically validated methods, including pelvic floor muscle training, real-time ultrasound biofeedback, manual therapy, bladder retraining protocols, neuromuscular re-education, respiratory retraining, and myofascial release techniques. Every intervention is supported by current research and individualised to your specific clinical presentation.
Holistic Approach Integrating Physical, Emotional, and Lifestyle Factors
We assess pelvic floor function within the broader context of whole-body mechanics and overall well-being. Drawing on George's extensive musculoskeletal and respiratory expertise, we evaluate posture, breathing mechanics, core stability, lumbopelvic control, hip mobility, diaphragm function, and psychosocial factors—all of which influence pelvic health. Our assessment examines all relevant systems to identify and address contributing factors, treating the whole person, not just symptoms.
Complementary Therapeutic Options
George has trained with the Acupuncture Association for Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP), integrating acupuncture into his treatment approach to optimize pain management and encourage deep relaxation. This complementary skill enhances his ability to support patients through chronic pain conditions, offering a gentle yet effective option alongside traditional physiotherapy techniques.
Advanced Diagnostic Technology
Real-time pelvic floor ultrasound imaging provides objective assessment of muscle function, enabling precise diagnosis and targeted treatment. This technology also serves as a powerful biofeedback tool, allowing you to visualize muscle activity and refine your technique during rehabilitation exercises.
Specialist Expertise
George's specialist interests include pelvic pain, post-surgical rehabilitation, and supporting patients through life transitions with sensitivity and clinical precision. His diverse clinical experience across musculoskeletal and respiratory systems has cultivated a deep understanding of the interconnected nature of physical health and reinforced his commitment to treating the whole person.

Every Bliss sample is analysed by The Doctors Laboratory
How accurate your result is has already been decided by the time anyone sits down to explain it to you. It was decided by who analysed the sample, on what equipment, to what standard; and by how the sample got to the lab.
At Bliss we use The Doctors Laboratory (TDL): the largest independent pathology provider in the UK, established in 1987 it is one of the largest pathology laboratories in Europe.
Why that matters to your result
UKAS-accredited to ISO 15189:2022 an international standard for medical laboratory competence. It covers analytical accuracy, sample traceability, equipment calibration, staff training and continuous quality control, and it is verified by independent assessors on an ongoing basis — not awarded once and forgotten.
Regulated by the Care Quality Commission, as we are.
Consultant-led departments. Every laboratory discipline at TDL is led by a consultant pathologist. There are specialists standing behind the numbers, and where a result is unusual, our doctors can speak to them.
Benchmarked externally. TDL participates in the same National External Quality Assessment Schemes as NHS laboratories, so its performance is measured against everyone else's rather than against its own standards.
A blood sample begins degrading from the moment it is taken. Your sample is drawn here and couriered to TDL the same day. It is not posted. It does not sit in a collection box over a weekend. It does not spend two days in a padded envelope you addressed yourself.
